Ladies,
Our Post was excited to be able to entertain state President Laura Love for dinner and karaoke before the District 1 meeting August 13! Business was conducted amongst decorations of palm trees, hula dancers, and aloha signs wishing President Love the best on her quest for 91% membership so she could go to Hawaii for the mid-winter conference. The meeting was packed with useful information about her goals for this year. A special thanks goes out for all of you that provided desserts for the meeting!
I would like to encourage all of you to mark as one of your favorites the Ladies website lavfwflorida.org/public/ for a world of information and the monthly bulletins. This site contains orders, notices, the state newspaper and program information to keep you up to date on issues that affect the ladies. There is even a link to the National website so you can also receive their news!
September is always a busy month as we remember those that died on 9/11 and prepare for our POW/MIA Day ceremonies. This year September is also Suicide Awareness Month. Did you know that  20 -30 percent of returning soldiers have Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, a major contributor to veteran suicide? The Ladies Auxiliary members are very concerned about the high rate of military suicides and will be wearing a teardrop sticker to promote awareness of this tragedy.
In October our auxiliary is planning to have a 125th birthday celebration for the Statue of Liberty and would love to have you come and join us for all the fun. Also join the Post for an Oktoberfest Dance Oct. 8 and a Halloween Dance Oct. 29 with food, contest, and plenty of fun! Also, take a few minutes to read our new Patriotic Awareness poster on the Post bulletin board. Updates will be done monthly!
Remember, if you haven’t paid your dues send them to Alice as soon as possible! We would love to have you join our monthly meetings on the third Monday night of the month and give us your input!
